WHAT IS Phibrows Microblading?

Microblading is a manual method of permanent makeup for your eyebrows which creates extremely fine natural looking hair strokes. The natural-looking results are achieved with a sharp, hand-held blade made up of 7+ microneedles. Microblading generally lasts from 10-16 months. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months.

This form of tattooing is the newest trend in Semi-Permanent Makeup.

It can take years of you whether you have sparse, over-plucked, patchy brows or are suffering from a hair loss condition or if you simply want to add colour and definition.

Hair Stroke Brows

Brows (microblading technique)

The treatment consists of accurate and precise distribution of hairs that, after enucleation, perfectly match natural eyebrows. This is an ideal treatment for people who have experienced hair loss and don’t want a really obvious ‘made up’ brow.

Combination Brows

Brows (microblading technique)

Eyebrows made with hair stroke and shading technique. The treatment consists in the accurate and precise distribution of hairs along with the shaded space between them. This technique allows you to obtain the effect of fluffy, thick, but still light eyebrows.

Step by step

Microblading Eyebrow Treatment

1. Consultation and Patch Test
Before any procedure can be done, it’s important to have a consultation with me for free so that we can discuss what’s involved, the style and shape you’re looking to achieve.
2. Analysis
I’ll perform a full skin tone analysis to determine what pigments to use to achieve your desired brows, taking your hair colour into consideration. Please check the Phibrows page for more information.
3. Preparation
I’ll use a guide colour pencil to draw on the shape of your new brows, using calipers to perfect your measurements. You’ll be able to confirm that the shape and style is correct before I proceed. A topical anaesthetic is then applied to the brow area, to minimise any discomfort.
4. The Procedure
The procedure takes about 90-120 minutes. You may feel a little scratchy sensation but this will be short lived as the anaesthetic starts to do its job. I will then check your brows for any final adjustments.
5. Top Up
You will need to have a top up appointment to check the shape and colour of the healed brows and take care of any adjustments. This takes place only when the skin has healed: usually 4-6 weeks from the initial procedure. Enjoy your brows!
6. Maintenance
Permanent makeup does fade over time and exposure to sun and skin tone are contributing factors as to when you’ll require a colour boost. I would recommend booking a consultation with me 12-18 months from your completed procedure.

Please NOTE: Itching and flaking may appear during the first ten days post-microblading procedure. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear.

Touch-ups and/or correction of the shape-design is recommended only after 6-8 weeks.

Pro-Tip: Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade quickly.

If you have active herpes, you need to postpone the permanent make-up treatment regardless of the pigmented area!

You will be given an aftercare solution and an aftercare leaflet with guidance on how to care for your brows during the initial healing period. The following must be avoided for 10-12 days post-microblading procedure:

  • Allowing any water to touch the brows! No shower stream over brows. Wash face CAREFULLY with a washcloth or cleansing wipes, avoid brow area
  • Sweating
  • Exercising
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the brow area. You will cause scarring of the area or removal of the pigment if you pick or peel scabs prematurely.
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris – now is not the time!
  • Spicy foods
  • Smoking
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care with a cotton swab
  • Do not use any cleansers or facial products of any kind, over the brow area for at least 10 days

Questions and Answers
about Microblading Treatments

Microblading is a manual method of permanent makeup for your eyebrows which creates extremely fine natural looking hair strokes. The natural-looking results are achieved with a sharp, hand-held blade made up of 7+ microneedles. Microblading typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine.   Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and skin tone will also be taken into consideration.

For the first Microblading procedure, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, I will shape and style your brows for client approval. We then follow with pigment color selection.  Once you are satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure. The second Microblading procedure takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This procedure will take approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete.

Your eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle.

Days 1-4: The pigment will appear very sharp and dark. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin, and has not yet settled in completely. The color of the pigment will soften gradually. Do not be alarmed if you see some pigment on the cotton swab, as this is excess pigment and/or body fluid that is naturally exiting your skin. Your brows may swell and appear larger also.

Days 5-7: Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. This might give you the impression that the pigment is fading too quickly, however, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.

Days 8-12: Your brows may look as though the pigment has completely faded – do not panic – take a deep breath and trust the process.

Days 14-28: Your brows may still look a little patchy or uneven, but the pigment will start to “reappear” as the pigment settles and the healing continues.

You may get your touch-up/perfecting procedure done at the 6-8 week point NO SOONER to allow for complete healing of the brows.

  • The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none.  Prior to the procedure I will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area, and also reapplied during the procedure.  Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything.

Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal.  Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn.  Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

Yes, all my Phibrows high quality pigments are medical grade and hypo allergenic, I pride myself in following strict hygiene standards, all needles are pre sterilised and sealed and disposed of after each client, and all equipment is cleaned to the highest standard with specialised hygienic wipes/spray .

A patch test is carried out at least 12 hrs before any treatment to ensure there will be no allergic reactions. My premises have been inspected and a certificate issued by the local council environmental health department.

This varies from person to person and depends on an individual skin type, sun exposure and chemicals contained in creams and beauty products, but usually microblading lasts between 10-24 months. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months.

The idea is to work with whatever brow hairs you have. It’s often incorrectly assumed that brow hairs need to be shaved off for semi permanent cosmetics treatments. This is not the case! The only time brow hairs may need to be removed is if there is any errant growth which needs tidying up, either through twee-zing or plucking.

After approximately 2 weeks, your eyebrows will have mostly healed. As a result, the initial intensity and thickness will fade, and the desired color shade will start appearing. At about the 4-8 weeks mark you should schedule a “touch up” procedure especially if you would like to make any changes to the shape of your brow, or fill in any areas needing correction or modification.

During this “touch up” procedure, I will go over your eyebrows again, exactly repeating the initial session. This repetition helps your new eyebrows last longer and encourages the ink to embed more permanently into the skin.

Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled.  Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment.

Touch up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial microblading session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

We will carry out a full consultation and patch test and a medical questionnaire will be carried out.  Whilst there are some cases in which people are not suitable for permanent makeup it is very uncommon.  Pregnant women and those breastfeeding are advised to avoid permanent makeup treatments, due to hormonal changes in the body.

No. After a GREEN PEEL® treatment the skin is young and fresh. Of course this skin needs special attention. With every GREEN PEEL® your skin becomes stronger, firmer and resistant. Metabolism is activated, microcirculation as well as the interlocking of skin layers is improved. This in turn results in the skin receiving more oxygen and nutrients. The connective tissue fibers (collagenous and elastic fibers) are activated and metabolic wastes wicked away.
